LakeNET is a
community
web site and database devoted to "All
Things, Lake County, Indiana".
The LakeNET web site contains over
5,000+
links
to websites containing valuable information about Lake County, the
Northwest Indiana, Calumet Region, the state of Indiana and more. Our
goal is to gather, organize, and publish as much information about Lake
and Porter Counties as we can and post it on the World Wide Web so that
the citizens of Northwest Indiana -- as well as the world-- will know
what our communities have to offer.

LakeNET
is a cooperative effort by representatives of several organizations in
Lake County, including the Lake County Public Library and Lake Area
United Way. The Lake County Public
Library through a donation from the
International
and local Rotary Clubs,
helped provide server space for LakeNET. In 2004, LakeNET purchased a
new server, created a new database which allows our members to update
their own websites and allowed us to expand our website greatly.
In 2007, we received a grant from the
Legacy Foundation
to make improvements to our site, which we hope to post by April, 2008.
LakeNET
has a dedicated Board of Directors who volunteer their time to make
LakeNET a success. Our
Board
Members
are listed on the LakeNET site.
LakeNET
was made possible, in
1996,
by a grant from Access Indiana, an initiative of the Governor's office
in cooperation with the Indiana Department Of Education.
Help us
stay online...Businesses and local not-for-profits can place a link and their logo on LakeNET
by becoming a

serving the community.
LakeNET
also creates, updates and posts
free
websites for not-for-profit organizations in Northwest Indiana. Benefits
of having an organizational web site include the ability to refer
clients to your informational brochures via the Internet, post job
openings, make your services known to the community, advertise your
fundraisers and events. Plus clients have instant access to you via
E-mail 24/7.
