Transportation Services

            South Lake County Community Services is a regional provider of public access demand response transportation. For more information, fare, or to make a reservation please call South Lake County Community Services at (219) 663-0627.

Demand Response Service

Reservations for trips must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Reservations are on a first come-first served basis, and are subject to bus availability.  Reservations can be made no further than two weeks in advance.

ÔDriver is not considered a medical attendant, and must remain in line of sight of vehicle at all times. Attendants assisting clients will not be charged a fare.

ÔIf a trip is scheduled, and then the client is a no-show, full fare will be charged.

ÔChildren 4 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.  The adult must provide a car seat, and is solely responsible for properly securing the child and the car seat to the bus seat. There is no charge for children 4 years old and younger.

If a client is a no-show twice, the Agency reserves the right to refuse service for the next 30 days.

ÔTransportation is available Monday through Friday.  First scheduled pick-up is 8:30 a.m. and last pick-up is 3:30 p.m.

ÔBilling for transportation is available upon request. Invoices will be prepared and mailed out by the 5^th of every month for preceding month.

Transportation into other sections of Lake County and Porter County can be arranged

with other demand response transportation providers, with advanced notice.
