Youth Employment Program

For the past 6 years, SLCCS has operated a youth employment program, in conjunction with Workforce Development Services and Hanover Senior High School in Cedar Lake. The purpose of the Program is to give students in the learning disabilities program at the high school additional help and support in successfully completing the ISTEP test, and in appropriate career choices. During the school year, the students attend weekly sessions of Job Club during which they complete work-related educational tasks.  During the summer, they are employed in a landscape design project where they learn basic of landscape design, and then actually design and install landscape projects. For more information, call Workforce Development Services at (219) 661-8985, or SLCCS at 663-0627.
