Resource and Community Center

Over thirty-five years ago, South Lake County Community Services; Inc. was established to serve people in need in the south Lake County area.  Since its inception, the mission of the Agency has always been to locate and secure resources for our most dependent community members.  These available resources have always widely scattered throughout Lake County, making it difficult for the people who need the services to utilize them fully.

For the past four years, the Agency has been working on a project to co-locate several core social and governmental agencies under one roof. This dream was realized in July of 2003 when these agencies began operation in a state of the art, fully accessible resource center in Crown Point.  There is 12,000 square feet of office space, with an adjacent 9,000 square foot auditorium, and it is located 1 ½ miles southeast of the downtown Crown Point Square, with direct access to Route 231.

The co-location of the core agencies in a mall-like setting, with shared facilities such as community class and meeting rooms, audio-visual equipment, an information center, security, public restrooms, and canteen facilities, will reduce the duplication of underutilized space and facilities, while improving the general dissemination of information and the coordination of programs. People of all ages and walks of life will now be able to easily use many different sources of support all in one place.

The South Lake County Resource and Community Center is an investment in the community that will continue to provide a return to the State and the community financially with the efficient and economical dissemination of necessary services towards the goal of self-sufficiency for both clients and organizations.
