What He Does
Technical Engineers
perform control, preliminary and construction surveys to
provide line and grade and to establish or re-establish base
lines, center and offset lines. They also establish bench
marks and transfer of grades and elevation; set up and
operate instruments including optical & electrical, line,
distance, and grade devices; read and interpret
architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical drawing
plans and specifications; perform the computations necessary
to layout horizontal and vertical work points and control
lines for the multiple trades and crafts on construction
sites and projects.
Working Conditions
Technical
Engineers work primarily outside. Their work consists of a
lot of climbing, walking, stooping and kneeling. |

Basic Requirements:
- Age - Minimum age is 18
- Birth Certificate
- High School Diploma or a GED
(An Associate or Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Surveying
is recommended)
- Transcripts must be
submitted
- Valid Drivers License
- Must have reliable
transportation
- General Aptitude Test
- Personal Interview
Recommended Preparatory Classes:
- English, general
mathematics, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, comprehensive reading,
and communication classes.
Abilities:
- Work at height levels.
- Good physical condition
- Able to work around earth
moving equipment in trenches excavations
- General Math
Entry Process:

employment.
