What He Does
An
insulation worker is a craftsman who fabricates and
installs insulating material on commercial and
industrial process piping, piping supply, vents and
drains for plumbing systems, heating cooling, and
ventilation systems, duct systems, reduction of fire
hazards, and for protection from heat and cold in other
mechanical hazards, and for protection from heat or cold
in other mechanical piping systems. This craftsman also
alters and repairs insulating materials. The insulation
worker uses a wide variety of hand tools and materials
to perform his various tasks.
Working
Conditions
The work
for this craft is varied indeed. The Asbestos/Heat &
Frost Insulator may work both indoors and out, on storm
drain piping to air conditioning ductwork. Physical and
health hazards include breathing of hazardous chemicals,
but the use of protective safety equipment reduces these
dangers. |

General Qualifications
- Age - Minimum of 18
years old
- Education - High School
Graduate or Equivalent
- Good Physical Condition
- Must be able to perform work of the trade
- Drug Test

Years
- Related training -
Minimum of 96 hours of annual classroom training instruction per
year.
