The Rhythm-nastics
Nancy Johnson, Gloria Huenger and Joyce Wargo

Born in Whiting, Indiana.
Local girls who in 1941, changed cheerleading in America for most of the twentieth century. They developed a new method called rhythm-nastics that combined gymnastics and dance maneuvers verses older methods of "Hurrah" and "Sis, Boom, Ah". They were immortalized in a November 10, 1941 Life magazine feature and their routines and style was adapted by the entire nation thereafter.
