Mr. Stiglitz is an economist who graduated from MIT with his PhD. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in economics on October 10, 2001 for his analysis of markets with asymmetric information. His book Globalization and Its Discontents (Norton June 2001) has been translated into 20 languages and was an international bestseller. He is currently a professor at Columbia University.
