Mr. Comer is one of the nation's leading child psychiatrists and is best known for his pioneering efforts to improve the scholastic performance of children from low-income and minority backgrounds. He is the author of several books, "Beyond Black and White", "Black Child Care: How to Bring Up a Healthy Black Child in America", "School Power: Implications of an Intervention Project" and "Maggie's American Dream: The Life and Times of a Black Family".
