Mr. Smith was a radio DJ and host early in his career. He became a reporter and anchor at KMGH-TV in Denver from 1982 to 1985 and served as co-anchor of the CBS This Morning from 1987 to 1996. He was a regular contributor to the CBS Evening News With Dan Rather, with his own segment called "Travels With Harry". He hosts the show Biography on A & E and is the current host of the "Early Show" on CBS.
