Harry Danning

Born September 6, 1942 in Los Angeles, California.
Died November 29, 2004 in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Lived in Chesterton and Union Township from 1981 until 2004.  Mr. Danning nicknamed "The Horse" was a catcher with the New York Giants from 1933 to 1942.  He played 890 games and played in the 1936 and 1937 World Series.  His best year came in 1940 when he had 91 RBIs and was named All American and to Babe Ruth's All-Star Team.  He was a career .285 hitter and was selected to four All-Star games in total.  He was a WWII veteran with the Army Air Corps and worked as an insurance investigator for Metropolitan Life Insurance until 1976.
