Ms. Curiel graduated from Morton High School in Hammond and Purdue University in West Lafayette.  Her early interest in journalism started as the editor of her High School newspaper.  During her career, she has worked for United Press International, ABC News, editor of the Washington Post, the foreign desk at the New York Times, and writer and producer of Ted Koppel's Nightline.  In 1993, she was hired by President Clinton to be his presidential speechwriter, the first person of color and first Hispanic American woman to serve in that position.  From November 1997 to March 2001, she served as the U.S Ambassador to Belize.  Ms. Curiel takes great pride in her heritage and tries to encourage others to live their dreams.
