Archibald McKinlay

Born in Indiana Harbor, East Chicago, Indiana.
Writer, historian, expert on Calumet Region history and communications specialist, having worked in all media.

In 1965 he introduced the National Drivers Test, a public affairs program that won the Peabody Award, broadcasting’s highest honor.

In 1968 he served as national director of information for Richard Nixon’s presidential campaign.

He has written numerous historical books about the Calumet Region including “Regin Archetypes” and “Chicago’s Neighboring South Shore: Lake County Indiana.”

Since 1981, he has written a column for the Sunday Hammond Times entitled “Calumet Roots.” His work is informative, entertaining and creates a sense of pride about the region and heritage.
