Acquisitions

Nearly all the items on display at the museum were donated through the generosity of the people and businesses of Merrillville, Ross Township, Northwest Indiana and beyond.

Some of the museum's permanent exhibits include a Victorian parlor, a 1900s-styled kitchen and a turn-of-the century schoolroom.

We are especially proud of our recently completed farm room that pays homage to our area's agricultural past.

Other displays showcase military uniforms, vintage clothing and historical books and papers. The museum also houses a large collection of Merrillville High School yearbooks dating back to late 1920s.

The historical society accepts donated items for display as well as for reference and archival use.

All items are used and displayed at the historical society's discretion. Donors must sign a waiver releasing ownership.
