Foster Parent Training

Many people find great fulfillment in reaching out to other children who are not their own.
The primary goal of a foster family is to provide a safe, loving, caring home to a child in need.

Successful foster parents can be found in every variety of households.  LSSI coordinates the initial licensing and ongoing training for approximately 600 foster homes in Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Jasper and Starke Counties.

Foster parents must complete a pre-service curriculum and ten hours each year to maintain licensure.  First aid certification is also necessary.

In addition to training coordination, LSSI publishes a quarterly newsletter.

For foster parent training information call Milka Sanders at (219) 838-0996.
