News National Poetry Champion

Corrion "Corey" Davis, 12 years old, became the only African-American student to win a national title this past June/July weekend in Indianapolis at the National Junior Forensics League Tournament. He is the 2012 champ in poetry interpretation. His program entitled "A Montage of Life" utilized the poetry of Chi State Prof. Haki Madhubuti, Langston Hughes, and Rudyard Kipling.

He bested over 100 students from the United States. Formerly from Chicago, he is currently a student at Gary's Wirt-Emerson Visual and Perofrming Arts School. He was coached by his theater teacher, Mr. Gary Peters. His mother is Janice Davis.
